- SILC
Our Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) have proven to be a beacon of hope and resilience, particularly among our women’s groups. Over the past year, these groups have conducted three successful cycles, collectively saving over Ksh. 1,000,000. Women contribute weekly, with amounts ranging from Kshs 150 to Kshs 1,000. These savings are then loaned to members at a 10% interest rate, repayable within two weeks. Through these loans, women have been able to cover their children’s school fees, meet basic needs, and even launch income-generating activities like grocery stores and food kiosks. We are grateful for the growth and the positive impact SILC has had in their lives
- FOOD KITTY
Food security remains a top priority within our groups. The food kitty initiative has been a success, particularly among the Kariowa A group, who have adopted this model alongside SILC. Members contribute weekly, and at the end of each cycle, the pooled funds are used to purchase essential food items in bulk, which are then shared equally among members. This year, one group successfully ran three food kitty projects, ensuring that everyone received a share of the groceries. Additionally, another group initiated a year-long saving plan that ran concurrently with SILC, allowing them to enjoy the benefits at the end of the year
- FEEDING PROGRAM
Our feeding program serves as a vital support mechanism for young men in the Kariwa and Ngara areas, often providing their only hot meal of the week. This initiative has been made possible through the generous contributions of our congregation and serves as an effective mobilization tool, fostering trust and community engagement. Through this program, we have built connections that allow us to better understand the challenges faced by these young men, giving them the opportunity to share their experiences. Furthermore, we have established a food bank to support congregants in need and those seeking assistance at the church
